The EEC discussed questions in the sphere of tax policies and customs administration

The Eurasian Economic Commission roundtable on tax policy and administration was held on September 14, 2016.
The event was organized by the Department of financial policy of the EEC in conjunction with the International tax and investment Center (ITIC). The round table was attended by representatives of the EEC, ITIC and enterprises of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Kazakhstan, carrying out business activity in the Eurasian Economic Union.

ASEAN, Korea to build trust and confidence in e-commerce

The ASEAN-Korea Workshop on E-Commerce “Enhancing Consumer Protection” in Da Nang, Viet Nam on September 5-6, 2016.
The workshop addressed issues in legal frameworks for consumer protection in e-commerce, especially business to consumers (B2C) transactions, as well as sharing of the best practices on emerging issues in e-consumer protection. It also addressed several challenges such as the fast growing online retail and consumer marketplace, the rise of cross-border e-commerce consumer disputes and the need for regional cooperation mechanisms in protecting consumers.

Main directions of the agreed transport policy in the EAEU have been approved at the level of deputy heads of specialized agencies of the Union member states

The EEC hosted a meeting of the authorised transport authorities of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), chaired by the Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Adamkul Zhunusov on September 13, 2016. During the meeting the draft Main Directions and Stages of the Coordinated (Agreed) Transport Policy were generally approved.

The EEC working group has commenced work on development of a new edition of the overall compliance assessment framework

The first session of the working group for the development of the overall compliance assessment framework was held in Yerevan on the premises of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, chaired by Valery Koreshkov, Member of the Board - Minister in charge of the Technical Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission on September 8-9, 2016. At the meeting the main directions for the development of a new edition of the aforementioned overall frameworks were determined and agreed.
The session was attended by representatives of the authorised public authorities, the business community compliance assessment bodies, and experts of the EAEU countries.

The EEC calls for harmonization of the digital infrastructure development programs

On September 7, 2016 the Eurasian Economic Commission hosted a meeting with experts and market players where the interdependence of economic development, and digital assets’ formation were discussed. The discussion took place within the framework of the draft session of the working group for the development of proposals for the formation of the digital space of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Setting Up Business in APEC Now 50% Faster

It takes half the amount of time for budding entrepreneurs in the Asia-Pacific region to set up a business today compared to about a decade ago.
Back in 2009, APEC set out to improve the business environment in the region through regulatory reforms that make it cheaper, faster and easier to do business. This gave rise to an initiative called Ease of Doing Business (EODB), which looks at the performance of the APEC economies through a set of indicators or priority areas. These indicators give an overall picture of how rules and regulations of an APEC economy facilitate – or hamper - the growth of the private sector.

Agricultural production to grow by 8% within the Eurasian Economic Union, mutual trade by 15%, and exports by 19% in 2016-2017

On September 6, 2016 by disposition of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the task of joint forecasts of the development of the Agroindustrial Complex as well as consolidated forecasts of the supply and demand for the main types of agricultural products and foodstuffs in the Eurasian Economic Union countries in 2016-2017 has been approved. The forecasts will be considered at the next session of the Council of the Commission.
In accordance with the prepared document, the growth in agricultural production for the forecast period is to comprise 8%, exports– 19%, and mutual trade – 15%. In 2017, the mean value of the self-sufficiency in terms of major agricultural goods is to increase by up to 94%.

The EEC approved the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Commission and the VDMA Agricultural Machinery

The Board of Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved the Memorandum of Cooperation with the VDMA Agricultural Machinery Association on September 6, 2016. The document was prepared by the Industrial Policy Department of the EEC.
The adoption of the Memorandum will facilitate the further harmonisation of international and national standards of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union with international standards in the field of agricultural engineering.

The EEC has approved priority Eurasian Economic platforms

Members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved a draft disposition of the EEC Council “On the formation priority of Eurasian technology platforms” at a session on September 6, 2016.
They include space and geoinformation technologies, biomedicine, supercomputers, photonics, LEDs, solid mineral mining technology, environmental improvement technology, Eurasian biotechnologies, food and AIC industry processing technologies, and textile and light industries.
