EEC Adopts a Resolution Aimed at Eradication of Obstacle Hindering Activities of the Eurasian Economic Union

Participants of the October 4th session of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) adopted a resolution prescribing to elaborate measures liberalizing the circulation of goods on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border.
The Republic of Kazakhstan has been subjecting goods crossing the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border to quarantine and phytosanitary control despite this type of control was abolished by Resolution No. 6 of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 8, 2015.

EEC Adopts a Resolution Aimed at the Eradication of Unequal Taxation in the Eurasian Economic Union

Participants of the October 4th session of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) adopted a Resolution prescribing Kyrgyzstan to apply equal taxation rates and conditions to goods exported from Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Food staff and some other goods produced from agricultural raw materials originating in Kyrgyzstan are exempt from VAT in the Kyrgyz Republic. However, similar products made from agricultural raw material originating in other Union Member States are subject to a 12% VAT, which violates provisions of Article 71 of the Treaty on the EAEU.

The first review of the trade policies and practices of the Russian Federation in the WTO

The first review of the trade policies and practices of the Russian Federation since its accession in 2012 successfully concluded in the WTO in Geneva, Switzerland. The Russian delegation was headed by Maxim Medvedkov, Head of the Department for Trade Negotiations of the Ministry of Economic Development.

The review was the first opportunity for Members to learn about developments in the Russian Federation's economic and trade policies since then, and to review the country's participation in the multilateral trading system as a Member of the WTO.

A New Mechanism of Support and Promotion of Cooperation Projects is Being Developed in EAEU

Participants of the September 30th session of the EEC Industrial Advisory Committee discussed the development of a mechanism of collaboration between the Eurasian Economic Commission, EAEU Member States and Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) that would allow to effectively classify cooperation projects as projects with high integration potential eligible for EDB financing.
After a series of consultations with EDB experts and representatives of the Union Member States, EEC Industrial Group elaborated a package of documents defining the mechanism of selection and consideration of promising cooperation projects eligible for EDB financing.

A Draft Regulation on Annual Monitoring and Analysis of Implementation of the Main Directions of Industrial Cooperation of the Union Member States is Approved

Participants of the September 30th session of the EEC Industrial Advisory Committee approved a draft Regulation on Annual Monitoring and Analysis of Implementation of the Main Directions of Industrial Cooperation of the Union Member States.
The document was drawn up by the EEC Industrial Policy Department pursuant to the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU and the Main Directions of Industrial Cooperation.

EEC Minister Veronika Nikishina: "For exporters to enter new markets, countries should develop a system of free trade agreements."

EEC Minister in charge of Trade Veronika Nikishina spoke on September 30, 2016 at the Sochi International Economic Forum's Panel Discussion "Identifying and Using Regions' Export Potential".
In her speech, the Minister noted that to develop the export potential of the country regions, it would be necessary to, first of all, adjust the regimes of trade operations.

The EEC Minister Mukai Kadyrkulov and Secretary General of the WCO Kunio Mikuriya discussed the development of cooperation

From September 27 to 29, 2016 a working meeting of the EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of customs cooperation Mukai Kadyrkulov and Secretary-General of the WCO Kunio Mikuriya was held during the 11th annual Conference of the World Customs Organization (WCO) in Manila (Republic of the Philippines).
The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of mutually beneficial relations based on the memorandum of understanding between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the World Customs Organization, which was signed on June 17 this year. During the dialogue, the EEC assessed positively the possibility of participation by the EEC representatives in the session of the WCO working bodies, where modern instruments of customs administration and trade facilitation mechanisms are being developed.

The EEC and the Government of Chile shared best practices on the conclusion of free trade agreements

On September 26-27, 2016 Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Trade of the EEC Veronika Nikishina and Vice Minister for Foreign Trade of the Republic of Chile, Andres Rebolledo, chaired a seminar in order to share best practices on free trade agreements at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission in Moscow.
The event was attended by the representatives of the Governments of the States of the Eurasian Economic Union, the General Directorate of International Economic Relations and the business community of Chile.

On October 1, 2016 the Eurasian Economic Union begins trial operation of electronic vehicle passports

On September 29, 2016 the EEC Member - Minister in charge of technical regulation Valery Koreshkov took part in the demonstration of the readiness of electronic passports for vehicles (passports for chassis), self-propelled vehicles and other types of technic by the time of launching the systems in trial operation.
The demonstration took place at the site of JSC Electronic Passport, where the Director Ilya Minkin reported on the readiness for trial operation. The event was also attended by the Director of the EEC Department of technical regulation and accreditation Arman Shakkaliev, representatives of Rosstandard, Rostechnologii State Corporation, and manufacturers.
