EEC Adopts a Resolution Aimed at Eradication of Obstacle Hindering Activities of the Eurasian Economic Union

Participants of the October 4th session of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) adopted a resolution prescribing to elaborate measures liberalizing the circulation of goods on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border.
The Republic of Kazakhstan has been subjecting goods crossing the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border to quarantine and phytosanitary control despite this type of control was abolished by Resolution No. 6 of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council on May 8, 2015.

At the same time, Kyrgyzstan unilaterally abolished quarantine and phytosanitary control at the Kyrgyz-Kazakh state border. Because of these circumstances, quarantineable goods hauled from Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan are processed at the border with considerable delays.
The government of the Republic of Kazakhstan was given 10 calendar days from the date of the Resolution to inform the Eurasian Economic Commission about the measures it took to discharge the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU.
The EEC Member of the Board – Minister in charge of the Domestic Markets, Informatization, Information and Communication Technologies Karine Minasyan said, "The Resolution we adopted today is aimed at eradication of barriers existing in mutual trade and impeding free movement of goods across the territory of the Union. At the current stage of integration, it is crucial to exert more effort to lift any obstacles. Ultimately, this was one of the key reasons for the establishment of EAEU."
