The EEC has approved priority Eurasian Economic platforms
Members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission approved a draft disposition of the EEC Council “On the formation priority of Eurasian technology platforms” at a session on September 6, 2016.
They include space and geoinformation technologies, biomedicine, supercomputers, photonics, LEDs, solid mineral mining technology, environmental improvement technology, Eurasian biotechnologies, food and AIC industry processing technologies, and textile and light industries.
Eurasian technology platforms (ETPs) are defined in the Eurasian Economic Union as the leading instrument (mechanism) for the formation of the innovation economy of the future, the creation of competence centres in its five countries, the stimulation of continuous technological modernisation, and an increase global competitiveness.
In fact, ETPs are the mechanism for cooperation in scientific and technological, innovation and industrial spheres and they create the conditions for cooperation between the leading organisations in business, science, the state and public organisations of the Union countries.
There are currently 11 technology platforms 11 regarding 8 priority technology areas. They unite more than 400 of the leading national scientific and industrial organisations of the Union. These organisations plan to implementation approximately 140 joint innovation cooperative projects in the most promising industries.
Moreover, the Commission continues to work on forming priority Eurasian platforms. In 2017, it plans to create technology platforms in directions such as electronics and mechanical engineering, metallurgy and new materials technology, chemicals and petrochemicals, power, transport, nuclear and radiation technologies.
