The Commission agreed on strategic documents in the field of transport and infrastructure

The 5th meeting of the heads of authorized authorities of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), chaired by the Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Adamkul Zhunusov, was held in Moscow on December 7, 2016.
During the meeting, the list of areas of interaction and infrastructure projects in the framework of the pairing of the Eurasian economic integration and the Silk Road Economic Belt was approved. It includes more than 40 projects in the field of transport and infrastructure.

The EEC is developing its cooperation with India

The Director of the Department of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures of the Eurasian Economic Commission Igor Gayevsky met with the Chairman of the Agency for the development of exports of agricultural and food products of the Government of India (APEDA) Devendr K. Singkh and the first Secretary, head of the Economic Department of the Embassy of India in Russia, Amit Telang on December 6, 2016.

The EEC and the Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization will sign a Cooperation Program until 2020

On December 6, 2016 the EEC Board authorized the EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of technical management Valery Koreshkov to sign a Cooperation Program between the EEC and the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization for 2016-2020.
“We pay particular attention to harmonization of phytosanitary measures applied in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the region of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization subject to the provisions of various international instruments. Those are primarily the International Plant Protection Convention, the Agreement on sanitary and phytosanitary measures of the World Trade Organization, international and regional standards for phytosanitary measures,” said Valery Koreshkov.

German business is interested in the dialogue between the EU and the EAEU

At the Open Day in the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce, which was held in Moscow, the Director of the Integration Development Department of the EEC Sergey Shukhno drew the attention of the representatives of the German business to the advantages that the Eurasian integration can offer to foreign companies operating in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Kyrgyz Republic ratified WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement

Gabon and the Kyrgyz Republic have ratified the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA), putting the total number of ratifications from members at 102. Only 8 more ratifications are needed to bring the TFA into force.
On 6 December 2016 the Kyrgyz Republic's WTO ambassador Daniiar Mukashev submitted his country's instrument of acceptance to DG Azevêdo.
The TFA will enter into force once two-thirds of the WTO membership has formally accepted the Agreement.

The EAEU updates trade policy priorities

The trade policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the past years needs an update of priorities. This was reported by the EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of trade Veronica Nikishina at the fourth conference “The Eurasian economic integration: moving forward, new horizons for business” organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission in conjunction with the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) and the American-Russian Business Council (ARBC).

The PRC and the EAEU reached mutually acceptable agreements on the exchange of customs information

The representatives of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the People's Republic of China reached mutually acceptable agreements on the wording of the Agreement on the exchange of customs information at the fourth round of negotiations in Moscow.
As reported by the Director of the Customs Infrastructure Department of the EEC who also headed the EAEU negotiating team Baktybek Baiserkeev, at the next round of negotiations the parties will finalize the document approval.

This was announced by the EEC Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Economics and Financial Policy Timur Suleimenov who spoke in Moscow at the 3rd Moscow International Financial and Economic Forum “The Eurasian Union and the EU: new opportunities for economic cooperation”.
