The EEC and the Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization will sign a Cooperation Program until 2020

On December 6, 2016 the EEC Board authorized the EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of technical management Valery Koreshkov to sign a Cooperation Program between the EEC and the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization for 2016-2020.
“We pay particular attention to harmonization of phytosanitary measures applied in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the region of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization subject to the provisions of various international instruments. Those are primarily the International Plant Protection Convention, the Agreement on sanitary and phytosanitary measures of the World Trade Organization, international and regional standards for phytosanitary measures,” said Valery Koreshkov.


The cooperation within the framework of the program provides for the exchange of information on new regulations in the field of plant quarantine, including relevant lists of regulated hazardous organisms. Participation of representatives of the Commission in annual sessions of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization and its working group on phytosanitary measures, joint organization of seminars on plant protection and quarantine, informing countries of the Eurasian Economic Union on activities in the field of phytosanitary research in the region of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization, holding trainings at the site of the Commission on application of international and regional standards and phytosanitary risk analysis involving experts of European and Mediterranean organization, and other events are also envisaged.
