The Commission agreed on strategic documents in the field of transport and infrastructure

The 5th meeting of the heads of authorized authorities of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), chaired by the Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Energy and Infrastructure of the Eurasian Economic Commission Adamkul Zhunusov, was held in Moscow on December 7, 2016.
During the meeting, the list of areas of interaction and infrastructure projects in the framework of the pairing of the Eurasian economic integration and the Silk Road Economic Belt was approved. It includes more than 40 projects in the field of transport and infrastructure.

“Proposals from the EAEU countries are aimed at establishing end-to-end logistics from China through the Eurasian Union to the EU and on other related routes. On these projects the partner countries of the Union have every reason to negotiate with China, while freely collaborating bilaterally on other directions,” said Adamkul Zhunusov.
At the meeting, particular attention was paid to the draft Transport policy, the fundamental document that will be presented to the Presidents of the five countries at the end of this year. The Ministers removed all the fundamental differences on the draft document, both in terms of road and air transport. The meeting participants were unanimous in stressing the need to eliminate existing restrictions for all types of transport within the Union, it being the main obstacle to the creation of the common transport space and common market for transport services.
The issue of legal registration and formalizing the interaction among leaders of profile agencies of the EAEU countries was considered, which exists todays on a rather informal basis. It is anticipated that changes to the Treaty on the Union will be initiated in order to secure the powers to review the results of the implementation of the provisions of the Treaty on the EAEU on a permanent basis. Also the issue of implementation of the Program of cabotage road cargo transport was discussed.
At the meeting with the participation of the EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of trade Veronika Nikishina, the appeal of the Ministry of Transport of Russia was considered. Heads of profile agencies of the partner countries of the Union in the field of transport agreed to prolong the preferential import of aircraft to the territory of the EAEU countries until December 31, 2017. Next year it is expected to hold consultations on prolongation of previous decisions on this subject.
