“Development of the export capacity of agricultural products and foodstuffs is an important step towards the agreed agroindustrial policy in the EAEU states”

The EEC Board approved the Recommendation “On agreed actions of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in the development of export potential of agricultural products and foodstuffs” on December 13, 2016.
The EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of Industry and Agroindustrial Complex Sergey Sidorskiy noted that implementation of the Recommendation would allow the EAEU States to use the best foreign practices in the organization and functioning of export support systems.

Search for partners for cooperation between industrialists of the EAEU will be easier

The Board of Eurasian Economic Commission approved a draft decision of the EEC Council “On the concept of the Eurasian network of industrial cooperation and subcontracting” and a draft of the document itself. According to the concept, the Eurasian network of industrial cooperation and subcontracting will be one of the elements of infrastructure for the implementation of the industrial policy in the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The EEC is cooperating with the United States in the field of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures

The Director of the Department of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures of the EEC Igor Gayevsky met with the Minister Plenipotentiary, Agriculture Adviser of the Embassy of United States in Moscow Jonathan Gressel at the Eurasian Economic Commission.
Igor Gayevsky informed his US colleague on the competence of the Commission and the authorized authorities of the EAEU countries on the application of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary measures. In particular, the EEC representative spoke about the order of development, public discussion and adoption of normative legal acts of the Commission in the field of sanitary and phytosanitary measures and changes to existing documents.

The EEC defined the order to select industrial projects for funding by the EDB

The EEC Board approved the package of documents that define the basic aspects of the interaction between the Commission, the EAEU States, and the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) to review cooperation projects with the integration potential to be financed by the EDB on December 13, 2016.
The documents prepared by the industrial direction of the EEC in conjunction with the representatives of the Union and the EDB define the order of selection of cooperation projects for their possible financing by the Bank.

Indian economy to expand fivefold by 2040

India Awaits Mandate from EAEU to Launch Talks on Free Trade Deal

New Delhi is ready to start the negotiation process on a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and waits for a corresponding mandate from the organization.
“As far as India concerns, we are ready to begin the negotiations. So we are awaiting the decision of the EAEU and once that happens, we will commence the negotiations but obviously we would like to enter these negotiations and start the process of free trade between India and the Union and this would be a first step towards integration,” said Indian Ambassador to Russia Pankaj Saran.
The diplomat added that the joint study showed the deal has a good potential to increase the level of trade between the sides.
In 2015, the EAEU and India established a joint group that has been examining the feasibility of the potential free trade agreement.

APEC’s 2017 policy priorities presented

Policy cooperation to reinvigorate trade and economic growth among the 21 APEC member economies in 2017 will focus on improving adaptation to change in a globalized world, the group’s incoming Chair, Viet Nam, announced at the conclusion of a key planning meeting in Ha Noi on December 9, 2016.
Four priorities to be advanced by APEC members over the coming year, under the theme “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future,” were agreed upon following consultations between their Senior Officials. They also draw on inputs shared here by the private sector, policy researchers and international development organizations.

First projects for the environmental development of the EAEU

At the roundtable on interaction and implementation of cooperative projects within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the participants of the Eurasian technology platform (ETP) “Technologies of environmental development” presented the first results of the relevant projects and identified the main vectors for further development of projects in EAEU.
The roundtable dedicated to the prospects and directions of cooperation in the field of technologies of environmental development was initiated by the Department of Industrial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

The first APEC Senior Officials meeting under Viet Nam’s presidency

The first APEC Senior Officials meeting under Viet Nam’s presidency was held in Ha Noi on December 8-9, 2016.
The participants discussed the policy priorities for reinvigorating trade and growth in 2017 among the APEC economies, which together account for half of trade and 60 per cent of GDP globally.
“Economic growth of APEC and beyond is strongly hit by weakening commodity prices, global trade and the tightening of monetary and fiscal policies,” said Viet Nam’s Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh. “The risks that can arise from the advancement of new technologies are increasing and may widen the development of disparity among economies.”
