Russian investments to Myanmar`s economy exceeded USD130 million
Minister of Economic Development of Russia Alexey Ulyukaev met with Minister of National Planning and Economic Development of Myanmar Kan Zaw on the sidelines of Russia – ASEAN Ministers of Economics` consultations and East Asia Summits on August 25, 2015.
At the meeting the Minister emphasized that many Russian companies actively invest in Myanmar. “According to the expert estimate, Russian cumulative investments in Myanmar`s economy in 2014 constituted USD130 million” – he said.
Alexey Ulyukaev told about the list of potential bilateral projects in the form of a roadmap for trade, economic and investment cooperation till 2017. At the present time the document is on approval in the responsible ministries.
The Minister proposed to finalize the intergovernmental agreement on investment encouragement and protection at the earliest possible date and to sign it before the end of this year.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the establishment of Russian Trade Representation in Yangon.
