Opportunities for tourism cooperation in the Greater tumen initiative’ countries

The anniversary meeting of the Greater Tumen Initiative Tourism Board was held in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, Republic of Korea.

Development of tourism is one of the prioritized directions of international cooperation under the framework of the Greater tumen initiative (GTI), which is a multilateral platform of multidimensional cooperation that involves Russia, China, Republic of Korea and Mongolia. Cooperation in this sphere is promoted by the GTI Tourism board established for this purpose.
The Board is an effective instrument for implementation of the prospective tourism projects from all GTI countries by promoting tourist projects on international market and by supporting companies seeking international partners.
The GTI has prepared a number of case studies and reports describing different aspects of tourism cooperation in the region, which might be useful in development of international strategies of companies from the GTI member-countries. Moreover, the GTI is available to implement new projects on special cases and issues of tourism in the North-East Asia in accordance with the demands of involved parties.
The interested companies can participate in the GTI cooperation by sending the application to the Ministry of economic development of the Russian Federation, the state body responsible for the Russian participation in the GTI.
The 10th GTI Tourism Board Meeting took place on 31st August 2017 in Pyeongchang, ROK. The GTI is a multilateral platform of multidimensional cooperation that involves Russia, China, Republic of Korea and Mongolia.
In order to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of international cooperation in the GTI tourism sector the Board members considered special project proposals in the following spheres:
• capacity-building in tourism management;
• facilitating resources of tourism cooperation of the GTI;
• organization of collective exposition of the GTI member countries at the XXII Pacific International Tourism Expo;
• development of the Web-site on Tourism of the GTI.
The members of the Board stressed the need to facilitate further cooperation in such fields as marketing promotion of tourism products in the GTI region, raising the profile of GTI as a brand at the international platforms such as ITB Berlin-2018, and development of the regional statistical database.
The 11th Tourism Board Meeting will be held in Vladivostok, Russia, in May 2018 in the framework of the IV Pacific Tourism Forum.
