The dialogue with Chile became wide and is gaining new momentum
On March 1, 2017 at the Eurasian Economic Commission, the EEC Board Member - Minister in charge of integration and macroeconomics Tatyana Valovaya and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile in the Russian Federation Rodrigo Jose Nieto Maturan discussed the current state and prospects of development of trade and economic partnership of the EAEU Member States and the Republic of Chile. Participants of the meeting expressed their satisfaction with the pace of cooperation development between the EAEU and Chile.
"The dialogue with Chile became wide and is gaining new momentum". Chilean partners are already actively interacting with all relevant EEC units. We conducted a series of thematic seminars for Chilean businessmen, which helped them better understand rules and terms on the markets of the EAEU countries. The joint working group has proved to be a good platform for promoting trade and economic cooperation between the EAEU States and Chile", noted Tatyana Valovaya.
Rodrigo Jose Nieto visited headquarters of the EEC the next day after the presentation of letters of credence. During the meeting, he stressed the importance of cooperation with the EAEU States and stated that the ongoing dialogue with the Commission will be one of the top priority for him as the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile in the Russian Federation.
In June 2015, at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the memorandum of understanding was signed between the EEC and the Government of Chile. Two sessions of the joint working group between the Commission and the Chilean Government were held, they were co-chaired by the EEC representative Tatyana Valovaya. At the third session, which is to be held in Santiago in March, the parties will familiarize each other with the list of export goods of mutual interest.
