The first official meeting of the EEC with the Government of Canada

On November 9, 2016 in Ottawa (Canada), the EEC Board member - Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomic Policy Tatiana Valovaya within the framework of the working visit to Canada met with the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexandra Bugailiskis.
The meeting was the first official contact of the Commission and the Government of Canada.


The meeting was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan in Canada Konstantin Zhigalov.
They held a constructive dialogue on a broad integration agenda, and Tatiana Valovaya gave detailed information for her Canadian counterpart on the development of the Eurasian integration project. The EEC Minister spoke about conditions of four freedoms in the Eurasian Economic Union - free movement of goods, services, capital and labor, tasks of the regulatory authorities of the Union, integration prospects until 2025.
The EEC Minister drew particular attention to the interaction of the Commission with third countries ' Governments and regional integration groupings.
During the visit to Canada Tatiana Valovaya also made a public lecture in Carleton University of Ottawa on Eurasian issues.
