Tatyana Valovaya: “The EAEU opens up new possibilities for Swiss business”

On November 16, 2016 Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC Tatyana Valovaya met with the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs of Switzerland, Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation in the Russian Federation, Pierre Helg, and Director of the Integration Development Department of the EEC, Sergey Shukhno.
Tatyana Valovaya gave detailed information on the international cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and spoke about the Commission’s various formats of interaction with other regional integration associations and governments of third countries.

The Swiss delegation was informed about the goals and objectives of the Union and the Commission and the provision of the freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labour within the Union. Taking into account the interests of Switzerland, the negotiations focussed on the formation of the common electric power markets, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, as well as the financial market in the EAEU.
Representatives of the Swiss delegation noted a lack of information about the Eurasian integration project in Europe and expressed an interest in launching professional discussion between representatives of Swiss and Eurasian business with the EEC.
The meeting participants agreed to maintain contact and organise EAEU presentations for representatives of Swiss business in the future.
