Industrial Policy Department of the EEC is developing cooperation with the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers
The representatives of the Industrial Policy Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission discussed prospects for the development of the automobile industry in the Eurasian Economic Union with the participants of the round table "The global automobile industry: the situation and trends in Russia/CIS region and worldwide", which took place within the framework of the previous session of the General Assembly of the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) on October 20, 2016.
The event was attended by over 100 delegates of national associations of manufacturers from 27 countries around the world, experts from research centres and international experts as well as representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The Commission's cooperation with OICA will contribute to the creation of a competitive automobile industry in the Member States, which is integrated into the global automobile industry through further harmonisation of international and national standards of the countries of the Union with international standards in the field of the automobile industry. It also will eliminate barriers to the automobile industry of the countries of the Union promoting its products on the markets of third countries.
At the round table, the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexander Morozov gave a presentation on the situation in the Russian automobile market and measures of support for this industry taken by the state. In addition, the round table participants discussed the situation in the automobile market of Russia and CIS countries, informed other attendees about the State of the automobile industry in their respective countries, and exchanged views on the medium-and long-term trends in the global automobile market.
The International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs-d'Automobiles) was formed in 1919 by national automobile manufacturer associations in Europe and the United States. OICA now has 39 members: national industry associations from all over the world, including the Association of Russian Automakers (OAR) and the Union Automotive Industry in Kazakhstan (KazAvtoProm).
The supreme body of the OICA is the General Assembly, which is held every year in the member countries on a rotating basis. This year, the OICA General Assembly is being held by NP OAR in Moscow. The general sponsor of the event is KAMAZ. The Non-profit partnership "Association of Russian Automakers (NP OAR) was established in 2003 at the initiative of leading Russian car manufacturers.
