The EEC develops cooperation of the EAEU countries in scientific and innovative activity in the agroindustrial sector
The draft documents on development of inter-state cooperation between the countries of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEU) in research and innovation were approved at the session of the Advisory Committee for Agroindustrial Complex under the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission chaired by the Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Industry and Agroindustrial Complex of the EEC Sergey Sidorskiy on October 31, 2016. They include the procedure for organization of joint scientific & research and experimental & design works in agroindustrial sector and the Commission Board Recommendation on Coordination of scientific and innovation activities of the EAEU Member States EEMA in agroindustrial sector.
The relevance of development of inter-state cooperation in scientific and innovation activity is based on the strategic nature of the task of raising the technological level of the agroindustrial complex to strengthen the competitiveness of the agriculture and to consolidate the efforts of the Member States to develop mechanisms of stable and sustainable development of agriculture and related industries to ensure food security in the Union.
The draft Procedure was developed pursuant to the Disposition of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council of April 13 of this year. The document defines the procedure for organization and the mechanism of interaction between the EAEU countries in the development and implementation of joint research of mutual interest and aimed at innovative development of production and marketing of products and services. Adoption of the Procedure will allow the Union countries to proceed with implementation of joint research and development works in the agroindustrial complex on the themes agreed by the Member States.
The Recommendation of the EEC Board was aimed at coordination of scientific and innovation activity of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union in the agroindustrial complex and the development of inter-state interaction in this area on the basis of a List of research and development works in the agroindustrial complex held and planned up to 2020 .
Adoption of these documents will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the use of scientific potential of the Member States, rationally apply funds, avoid duplication of research and development in the agroindustrial sector and step up cooperation in research and innovation.
