German businessmen are convinced of the need for interaction between the European Commission and the Eurasian Economic Commission
On October 6, 2016 in Berlin, the Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergey Shukhno and the Deputy Head of the International Cooperation Department Anton Azarov, during the International Conference "Russia - Germany: Common Interests - Joint Liability”, informed its participants about the dynamics in trading between the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union and Germany. They also talked about the principles of the EAEU and the EEC work, the international activities of the Union, the first effects of Eurasian Economic integration.
The Conference was held at the initiative of the German-Russian Economic Alliance, which unites on a voluntary basis Russian and German companies, enterprises, regional organizations that operate in the field of bilateral economic cooperation based on common interests.
Speaking about the international activities of the Eurasian Economic Union, Sergey Shuhno in particular said: "The evidence that the Union is on the right track is the growing interest to it on the part of third states. It's not just interest in what is happening in the Eurasian economic space. It is the desire of our partners to participate in the on-going events. The Eurasian Economic Union, in the context of the resistance to the modern economic challenges, is in an advantageous position, being like a bridge between Western Europe and South-East Asia. That is why it is important to develop good-neighbourly and mutually beneficial relations between the Eurasian Economic Union and its neighbours both in the West and in the East of the continent.”
The Conference focused on the business circles of Germany and on finding answers to contemporary challenges related to EU sanction policy and general deterioration of the world economy. The Conference participants heard reports of Russian and German speakers, reviewed economic cooperation situation. "Cooperation between the European Commission and the Eurasian Economic Commission is essential," the representatives of business circles of Germany are convinced.
Following the event, the final document was approved, which states that, despite the negativity in the relationship between the EU and Russia, it is necessary to seek for modern tools and mechanisms of cooperation to halt the decline in trade turnover and to give it new impetus for sustainable development.
The Conference participants were unanimous in the opinion that in order to achieve these goals the platform for dialogue of the EC and the EAEU should be established.
