An agreement was reached on granting for the EEC of observer status in the International Organization for Migration
On October 12, 2016 in Geneva (Switzerland), the Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Economics and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Timur Suleimenov, met with the Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), William Lacy Swing.
During the meeting, it was agreed on the granting of observer status for the Eurasian Economic Commission in the International Organization for Migration.
The Parties noted the fruitful interaction that is built on the foundations and principles laid down in the Memorandum of Understanding signed on April 12, 2013. The EEC Minister stressed that the IOM was the first international organization with which the Commission had entered into an agreement of this kind.
They discussed strengthening cooperation between the organizations in the migration sector, directions for further cooperation with a view to the development of conditions for effective management of migration processes that influence functioning and development of the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union.
