The representatives of the EEC and businesses of the Eurasian Economic Union countries spoke about the need to remove obstacles that affect the formation of the EAEU transport services market
On October 12, 2016 a regular session of the Council of Transport, Forwarding and Logistics Organizations of the EAEU took place in Bishkek. Representatives of the Transport and Infrastructure Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission participated in the discussion of the most topical problems hindering the development of the transport sector in the Union.
Director of the Transport and Infrastructure Department of the EEC Erzhan Nurakhmetov reported on the activities of the Commission on identification, analysis and eliminating of barriers in the field of transport. Special attention was paid to the systematization of the Commission's work in this direction, including harmonization of the terminology. This will allow all the integration participants to have the same understanding of the identified barriers and develop appropriate measures to address them.
Following his speech, an open discussion took place, in which the representatives of the business community discussed specific obstacles in the field of road transport, in particular transport problems for certain categories of goods (sanctioned goods), as well as the issues of transport control.
Erzhan Nurakhmetov outlined the strategic measures to eliminate obstacles in each sector of transport, suggested specific mechanisms to address these issues, called on experts to greater activity in the formation of the negotiating position.
The meeting participants expressed the need for further interaction. Including interaction in a more constructive form avoiding formal approach and moving to integrated solution for removing barriers, exclusions and restrictions in the transport sphere.
