The Argentine delegation stated that it supported the cooperation between the EEC and MERCOSUR
On October 19, 2016 a meeting with the Argentine delegation headed by Minister of Agriculture of the Argentine Republic Ricardo Buryaile was held at the Eurasian Economic Commission, where the Director of the Integration Development Department of the EEC Sergey Shukhno spoke about the development of cooperation with the countries and integration associations in Latin America (Chile, Peru, the Andean Community, and the Pacific Alliance) and confirmed the Commission’s interest in establishing contacts with MERCOSUR.
The need to sign a relevant Memorandum had been raised earlier in the meeting between the Chairman of the Board of the EEC, Tigran Sargsyan with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Argentina Susana Malcorra on April 12, 2016.
The Argentine delegation representatives said that systemic work continues to be under way on the harmonisation of the draft Memorandum within MERCOSUR and hope to sign it owing to the fact that the current President of MERCOSUR is Argentina.
