The process of uniting the EAEU and SREB remains the focus of the scientific and expert community
On October 20, 2016 the Russian International affairs Council (RIAC) hosted a joint round table organised by RIAC and the Embassy of China in Russia, on the topic "Realities and Prospects for uniting the SREB and EAEU. Joint efforts to build a "Great Eurasian Partnership."
The Eurasian Economic Commission was represented by the Director of the Integration Development Department Sergey Shukhno. He opened the event with a welcoming speech together with the President of RIAC Igor Ivanov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Russia Li Hui.
"The process of uniting the EAEU and the Silk Road Economic Belt has been received a new impetus following the meeting between the Chairman of the Board of the EEC Tigran Sargsyan with First Vice Premier of the People's Republic of China Zhang Gaoli. The institutional framework and content of the project currently are being developed," said Sergey Shukhno.
Sergey Shukhno also highlighted that the idea to unite the two associations logically correlates with development of another global initiative: the comprehensive Eurasian partnership, which was discussed at length during the meeting.
