EEC Minister Tatyana Valovaya: "Conjugation of the Silk Road Economic Belt with the EAEU May Promote Creation of a Comprehensive Eurasian Economic Partnership in the Continent"

Member of the Board - Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the EEC Tatyana Valovaya participated in the "Summer Davos" held by the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Tianjin (the PRC) on June 26-27, 2016.
The event is positioned as a platform for discussion of topical issues of world politics, global economy, human development and the latest achievements of science and progress, along with the Swiss Davos. For the first time, the Eurasian Economic Commission was invited for participation in the forum.


Under the speech at the specialised section devoted to the prospects of implementation of the Silk Road Economic Belt project, Tatyana Valovaya noted that this initiative had several dimensions: in addition to physical or infrastructure, also economic and, finally, integration ones. According to the Minister of the EEC, historically, the Silk Road contributed to the integration of the states situated along its route. Tatyana Valovaya stressed that it was integration dimension of the Chinese initiative in the context of the discussion about the possibilities of its conjugation with the Eurasian Economic Union (the EAEU) that could promote the creation of a comprehensive Eurasian economic partnership in the continent.
Tatyana Valovaya also took part in the events with the participation of the Business Council for Eurasia - a special mechanism for informal dialogue in the framework of the World Economic Forum, which traditionally brings together, in one auditorium, representatives of major companies from the Eurasian region.
On the sidelines of the "Summer Davos" the EEC Minister held working meetings with the management of the World Economic Forum, discussed the possibilities of cooperation of this organisation with the Eurasian Economic Commission.
