The EEC is preparing to establish Eurasian technology parks

The Industrial unit of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) put forward the initiative of establishing a stand-alone site dedicated to Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) technology parks at the International Association of Science Parks (IASP) World Conference to be held on September 19-22, 2016.
Furthermore, EEC representatives have put forward a proposal regarding the establishment of a new subdivision within the IASP structure - the Eurasian Division. If the decision is affirmative, a new office will be established in Moscow in addition to the two IASP offices (in Beijing and Malaga).

These initiatives were discussed at the meeting between the representatives of the EEC industrial unit and IASP Director General Luis Sanz and Head of the Department of Science and Industrial Policy of Moscow Oleg Bocharov. The meeting was attended by the heads of the Moscow technology parks, the Technology Park and Cluster Association, the Moscow Centre of Structural Transformations in Industry and the Moscow State University Science Park.
Moreover, the issues concerning international cooperation between technology parks in order to develop cooperation in innovation and technology were reviewed. There were discussions held regarding the place and role of technology parks and innovation development territories in modern cities and megacities.
In the EAEU, the development of technology parks is being executed thanks to interaction with China’s technology parks and cooperation within the "Silk Road" project. The EEC makes use of the best international standards to establish and maintain the function of the Union’s technology parks, initiates start-up tours, and forms the database of such technology parks.
